Description
Schedule a 30 minute session with a reference librarian for help with your research. Research Services currently offers appointments on Tuesdays from 2pm to 5pm and Wednesdays from 9am to 12pm.
We can help you in a variety of areas, such as:
- Using online resources available through the BPL
- Navigating the BPL catalog
- Research assignments
- Finding online journal and newspaper articles
- Getting started with genealogy research
- Narrowing down your research topic

Help with citation styles
After you request an appointment, the Library will get back to you within 2 business days letting you know if your appointment was approved. If you choose an online session, Information about joining the meeting will be sent in a separate email. Appointments must be requested at least 7 days in advance.
Online sessions involve the librarian assisting you with resources available through the BPL website with a valid BPL card or eCard, available to current residents of Massachusetts. If you are an out-of-state resident, please submit your request through our online contact form, and we will be happy to address your request through email. You are also welcome to come in for an in-person session scheduled through the Book a Librarian service.
